As part of our continuing efforts to engage with the wider community and support the positive well-being that being part of the stand-up paddle world brings, wot-sup have secured partnerships with both SECE Mind and St Luke’s Hospice. Both are local Essex charities and both hold very important places in our hearts.
Here’s a little bit about each of the charities, how we aim to support them across the year and how you can do your bit 🙂
Our aims At wot-sup our aim is to support these local charities by holding fundraising activities across the year; fun days, themed paddles and distance paddles to name a few ideas. Also by working with them we hope to raise the profile and awareness of the huge benefits of SUP to their clients and families. And lastly, as a thank you, we’d also like to engage with some of those that work for each of the charities, showing our appreciation of the work they do, and inviting them out to spend some time on the water with us or perhaps give them their first step on a paddleboard.
Via Just Giving You can show your support to both of these charities at any time by contributing to our Just Giving page, Just click on the link below to donate. Alternatively sign up or come along to our charity events where there will be collection tins/buckets ready for your kind donations. Donations will be divided equally between each of the charities at the end of each year with 100% of your money going directly to them.
“SECE Mind is a UK registered charity. We have a Board of Trustees who oversee the running of the charity alongside our small but dedicated team of staff and kind volunteers. There are around 135 Local Minds in the UK, each responsible for their own funding. We rely entirely on fundraising and your kind donations to help run our services and our work in the community. Every penny raised for SECE Mind helps us make a difference to people’s lives. At SECE Mind we provide supported housing, counselling for both adults and children, PACE support, mental health training and mental health signposting to anyone who needs it. We serve the Chelmsford, Castle Point, Rochford, South Woodham Ferrers and Southend areas helping support local people with their mental health and wellbeing needs.
“St. Luke’s Hospice’s is a UK registered charity, providing compassionate care to people whose illnesses are no longer curable. We promote dignity in dying and empower people to make the choices they want, from the moment they are diagnosed. Our mission is to provide the highest standards of individualised care for people with life-limiting conditions, palliative and end of life care needs, and their families, living in Basildon and Thurrock districts. We will provide high quality, expert, safe care, which is compassionate, holistic, inclusive and respectful at all times and in all care settings. We work collaboratively with other health and social care providers to ensure the individual’s quality of life is the best it can be and their wishes and preferences are respected.
